Naturally grown Toor Dal (Pigeon Pea) from Akola district — unpolished, with no additives. Most commercially sold toor dal is polished and coated with oil to improve appearance. This one isn't. The husk layer stays intact, and so does what comes with it.
Takes slightly longer to cook than polished dal. The texture in the cooked dish is fuller, not watery.
