How to Make Jowar Bhakri
Step 1: Heat the Water
Boil some water and allow it to cool slightly. Use this warm water for kneading the dough.
Step 2: Knead the Dough
In a mixing bowl, take 1 cup jowar flour and a pinch of salt. Slowly add warm water and mix. Once it cools enough to touch, knead the dough until it is soft and smooth. Cover with a cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Step 3: Roll the Bhakri
Take a small ball of dough and dust your rolling surface with dry jowar flour. Gently pat or roll it into a round shape about 5–6 inches wide. Jowar dough is delicate, so handle it gently to avoid cracks.
Step 4: Cook the Bhakri
Heat a flat pan (tawa) on medium heat. Place the bhakri on the hot pan. Cook until you see bubbles, then flip it. Flip again and press gently with a cloth to help it puff up.
Step 5: Serve Hot
Serve the jowar bhakri hot with green chutney, garlic thecha, baingan bharta, or dal.
